The North Wind Doth Blow...

The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

I saw this poor little fellow in our front yard this morning and was reminded of this old nursery rhyme.  It has been snowing here all day and after the sunshine we experienced yesterday, it is a bit of a downer but only because I want to get started in our gardens.  Luckily there is always work to be done in the house, in my studio and in our barn.

After spending the first 30 years of my life as a Southern Californian city girl, the idea of four seasons parading by every year was a novel idea when we first moved to North Idaho.  The rhythm and fleetingness of life are so much more clearer to me now and I would not trade it for all the snow-less winters (and springs) in the world.

This too shall pass and spring will come...

    1. Thank you Kim :)
The snow melted yesterday and I'm sure he is a much happier little robin now..

    1. Hi Ruta,
I was never familiar with it until I had my daughter almost 10 years ago. She was given a cd with that rhyme put to music and it was so pretty, it just sticks in my mind.
